Six walks around Wädenswil, and none of them needs high mountains

Inspired by the long out-of-print walking booklet «Wädenswil von Kopf bis Fuss» from 1981, I re-explored six routes for the Wädenswiler Anzeiger: from the lakeshore to the highest point of the municipality, on foot and on snowshoes. I was amazed myself how much Wädenswil has to offer.

A snowshoe walk for connoisseurs

When the snow comes down as far as the hill country, the land between Schönenberg and Hütten turns into a world of its own. On snowshoes you walk more slowly than you expect, and hear more for it: your own step, a branch shedding its snow, and nothing else. The route is a romantic one and not strenuous — meant for those who take their time, not for records. Now and then you simply stop, because the view asks you to.
