Six walks around Wädenswil, and none of them needs high mountains

Inspired by the long out-of-print walking booklet «Wädenswil von Kopf bis Fuss» from 1981, I re-explored six routes for the Wädenswiler Anzeiger: from the lakeshore to the highest point of the municipality, on foot and on snowshoes. I was amazed myself how much Wädenswil has to offer.

The five-lakes walk

Five «lakes» in one day — Lake Zurich counts, the other four you have to look for. The path leads through the shady Mülibach gorge, cool even on a warm day, up to the historic Sternenschanze and on to a pond that once supplied energy. Highest of all lies the moor lake near Hütten, still and dark. Along the way the landscape changes its face several times, from the shore through the woods and into the moor. Whoever likes counting gets to five; whoever likes looking stops counting somewhere along the way.
