To include the first lake, we meet on the ‘wrong’ side of Richterswil station, at the boat landing. We leave the pretty old town of Richterswil to one side and head for the Mülibach gorge, where you will hear a curious episode from recent local history. Then we plunge into the damp woods of the gorge, until the motorway bridge high above briefly pulls us out of this world of its own.
At the top we pass the Sternenschanze, with another story – this time from older local history – and the Sternenweiher (‘lake’ number two). Via the Freyenweijer (‘lake’ number three) we reach the Hüttnersee (lake number four). This moorland lake has an interesting history of its own, as does the village of Hütten above it – and you will hear about both. If the kiosk at the lido is open, we may stop for a refreshment.
Later, at ‘lake’ number five, the Teufenbachweiher, you will learn what part it has played in producing energy, then and now. At the finish in Schönenberg, we round off the day at the Restaurant Rössli.
